Kids and Compass at Bourton on the Water on a chilly June day

Kids and Compass are:

Emily, the writer and current armchair traveller. Having tried my hand at being a recruitment manager and primary school teacher, I’m now on my third career as a full time mother to two.   Plagued by itchy feet, I now spend an awful lot of time dreaming about my next travel destination, especially when trapped under a sleeping baby.  Wannabe digital nomad and closet hippie.

The husband, family man and father extraordinaire.  His wanderlust is kept under control by the odd work trip abroad.  An ambitious, but not necessarily realistic man, he dreams of becoming a chef and expanding his culinary repertoire beyond beans on toast.

The Cub, age 4.  Dramatic doesn’t cover it. The Cub loves all things pink and purple, playing with her friends and pre-school.  A connoisseur of Studio Ghibli, her heroine is princess Nausicaä.  She’s also quite partial to cuddles, strawberries and her little brother.  Her future is on the stage.

Bee, age 2.  A little pickle, Bee has a love for all things dangerous, especially scaling the stairs and attempting to climb out of windows.  He also likes pulling everything he can off shelves and out of cupboards.  He enjoys milk, raspberries and chewing anything made of cardboard.  A future mountaineer and adrenalin junkie.

Come  with us as we explore places to go as a family and reminisce about old adventures.  Hopefully you’ll find something to inspire you!

Good on you.. your About made me smile, I was exactly the same when my kids were small…I want to travel! Well, the good news is I did, but the bad news is it took a long time to be able to actually to do it the way I wanted to! However, in the intervening years, as the kids were growing up, we took every opportunity to travel, locally and abroad and explore and enjoy our family fun. Those years were wonderful……

Being able to travel at the drop of a hat is the one thing I miss from my “old” life! Thanks for sharing your experiences – very encouraging!
Some adventures will have to wait for now but there is plenty to do locally to us and we’re venturing abroad next year so I don’t have to wait too long. 🙂
I think it’s about striking a balance between what you want to do and what suits your kids. And if the kids are happy, the parents are happy!

One of the sweetest blogs I have come across. Glad you steered my attention this way:) Your children are young, very young. I have two…a girl and a boy, too…and close in age as well. Life get better and better with them. And, both our husbands sound like cool dudes :););) Nice connecting with you all!
